Joey Barton signed off with stress as he nears Rangers exit
The midfielder is close to agreeing a payoff to bring his spell in Scotland to an end.
Joey Barton is close to agreeing a payoff with Rangers after his Ibrox saga took a fresh twist when the midfielder was signed off with stress.
Barton was ordered to train with the development squad from Monday after his six-week suspension following a training ground row was lifted.
A day later and Barton provided a sick note to say he was suffering from stress.
The two parties are discussing a payoff and it is understood Rangers are willing to pay the midfielder two months' wages.
A deal to end his time in Glasgow could be struck within the next 24 hours.
