Celtic winger Scott Sinclair feels his side can still secure European football after Christmas following their 1-1 away draw to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers' side found themselves a goal down when Lars Stindl thumped home a volley in the first half.

But the Hoops fought back fiercely in the second half, eventually being rewarded with a penalty when Moussa Dembele was brought to the ground by Julian Korb who saw a red card for his efforts.

Dembele tucked away the penalty to give Celtic their second point of the group stage campaign, putting them two back of the German side in Group C.

And Scott Sinclair, who came agonisingly close to giving Celtic the lead in the first half, feels that the side have what it takes to compete in Europe.

Speaking to STV's Sheelagh McLaren, Sinclair said: "It's still there, I think we've got to have that belief and I think we do [have it] in the team.

"We are going to keep fighting on until the last game."

The performance showed a marked improvement from the last time the two sides met.

"From the first five minutes you could see the energy, aggression and the way we pressed," Sinclair said.

"I think that's the main difference from what we did in the last game.

Reflecting on his effort which clipped the post and stayed out the 27-year-old said: "It was one of them days.

"It obviously didn't go in. When I struck it I hit it cleanly and I thought it was going to go past the line but it didn't.

"We had a lot of chances in the game, and hopefully [in the future] we will put them away."
