Ross County boss Jim McIntyre admits he is frustrated by his side's start to the season and had aimed to have more points on the board by the start of November.

The Highlanders sit second bottom of the Scottish Premiership on just 10 points from 12 games - from two wins and four draws.

They were on the wrong end of a 4-1 hammering away to Motherwell last weekend and take on Rangers in Dingwall on Sunday.

McIntyre believes he is not the only manager unhappy with the opening round of results but the inconsistency of the other teams around them is not an excuse for their own failings.

"We're not happy with where we are, we expect to have more points at this stage and be higher up the table," he told STV.

"I think if you look at the league this season it's been quite crazy, there's four points between Inverness in sixth and Dundee at the bottom.

"I think that tells you all of those teams have struggled for that consistency."

He added: "We know we have to be better than what we have been. The one thing I'm sure is it will turn, we will pick up positive results.

"It's the first bump on the road, sometimes you learn more in adversity than you do when you're sailing along nicely. I've been in this position as a manager before when you have to dig in and work as hard as you can.

"It's about confidence levels. When players are confident they do things naturally, but in order for those confidence levels to return you need to do the basics far, far better than what we've been doing in recent weeks.

"It's not where we want to be but it's far from a disaster either."
