Aberdeen and Celtic will receive an equal share of tickets for the League Cup final, the SPFL has announced.

The sides will meet at Hampden Park on November 27 to contest the first piece of silverware of the season and fans of both sides had been keen to learn how ticket allocations would be split.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes said there was no reason for his team's supporters to be given anything less than half of the available seats and it would be "a disgrace" if any other other decision was reached.

The Dons took 11,000 fans to their semi-final against Morton on Saturday, though a lunchtime kick-off may have been a factor in the attendance.

McInnes said: "We are already having to go down to Glasgow and play Celtic in their city. Without doubt, parity has got to be seen to be taking place and a complete split, 50-50, down the middle.

"We will fill that absolutely no problem. You saw when we went to our last final with 40-odd thousand there, the demand is there.

"For any club outwith the Old Firm, when it comes to a final, they should get the opportunity to sell their allocation."

He added: "We could sell that twice over, our allocation. Common sense should prevail. Anything other than 50-50 would be a disgrace in my view."

The league governing body has now confirmed that a 50-50 split would be in place.

Ticket prices will start at £30 for adults and £15 for children.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: "The SPFL would like to congratulate both Aberdeen and Celtic for making it to the first showpiece final of the Scottish football season, with its return to a pre-Christmas date proving very popular with supporters.

"We are pleased to announce that both clubs will enjoy an equal share of tickets for the 2016 Betfred Cup Final which is shaping up to be another brilliant footballing occasion."
