Morton boss Jim Duffy says there is no such thing as a 'hint of offside' after hearing Aberdeen's opening goal in the League Cup semi-final being described as on the borderline of the rule.

The Greenock side coped well with Aberdeen's pressure in the first half and looked to be holding the Dons well into the second before Adam Rooney headed in the opener from a seemingly offside position.

Before watching it back, Duffy intimated that he is not happy with the ambiguity over the rule, especially as the game was still goalless when it happened.

Speaking in the wake of the League Cup semi-final defeat, he said: "I've been told that the first goal was offside, and if it is then certainly that's going to stick in my throat.

"Believe me, if there's an offside call tomorrow in a big game, they'll make a big deal of it that's for sure.

"I haven't seen [the decision] back, but everyone's told me it's offside.

"They said it was a 'hint of offside'. I said 'well there isn't a hint of offside, it's either offside or not offside'.

"And at 0-0 that's the first goal, so it's such a huge turning point in the game if that's the case."
