Greenock Morton captain Lee Kilday has hailed the impact manager Jim Duffy has had on the club since his arrival in May 2014.

Duffy is leading the Championship side to their first semi-final in 35 years as they take on Aberdeen in the Betfred Cup at Hampden on Saturday.

And skipper Kilday says their progress is down to the manager.

"The gaffer has been brilliant with me since I've been at the club. It's just the way he is with all the boys, everybody loves him at the club," he said.

"He knows the game really well, he knows what he is talking about, gets you up for every game and sets you up the way he wants to play - he's been great."

Morton go into Saturday's encounter as firm underdogs against the Dons but will be boosted by the emphatic 5-0 win against Queen of the South last weekend.

And Kilday says Aberdeen being heavy favourites suits them as they've been disregarded before a ball has been kicked in the past.

"Last year we did well, we finished fifth so I think compared to last year we have a few more younger boys in the team," he said.

"I think everybody wrote us off a wee bit but I think we've showed how good we are and how good the young boys are to step in like Jai Quitongo, Scott Tiffoney and Lewis Strapp.

"They've done really well and it's been great progress."
