Borussia Monchengladbach ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against Celtic in the Champions League with a performance that impressed fans and media alike.

The Foals kept back-to-back clean sheets for the first time under Andre Schubert as they gained their first away win in 39 years in Europe's top club competition.

Here's what the German media had to say about the match.

Bild praised the powerful performance of a weakened Gladbach team in Glasgow, a result which sees the team climb to second in the group.

Germany's biggest paper spoke to sporting director Max Eberl who proclaimed his pleasure at the way his team overcame the intense Celtic Park atmosphere.

He said: "At the end only our fans were singing. That shows how the game went."

German football fans are often held up as generating a great atmosphere but it is clear the Celtic Park cauldron impressed the visiting player and coach.

Manager Andre Schubert described the match as "a special experience" while winger Jonas Hofmann said he had "goosebumps" when the Champions League anthem played around the ground.

After dealing with a minor injury crisis ahead of the match, captain Lars Stindl praised the players who came in to the starting line up, describing them as "sensational".

Ulrich Hartmann reflects on Borussia's first triumph in Scotland, having suffered heavy defeats here in the past.

In what is something of an understatement, Hartmann points out this result was much better than the 8-0 loss suffered at the hands of Rangers back in 1960 with goalscorers Lars Stindl and Andre Hahn gaining praise.

Hartmann says the visitors were in total control of the match due to their ability to press over a long period of time.

He claims Monchengladbach should have already made their advantage count in the first 45 minutes and says the result is the perfect preparation for facing Bayern Munich on domestic duty on Saturday.
