Scotland must take heart from their fight back against Lithuania says left-back Andy Robertson.

Gordon Strachan's side failed in their efforts to claim victory in their first home World Cup qualifier of the campaign, requiring a late James McArthur goal to salvage a 1-1 draw against Lithuania.

Scotland now travel to face Slovakia on Tuesday, but Robertson - the stand-out performer on Saturday - insists his teammates must take encouragement from the result and performance at Hampden.

"If you're at home and you draw you are frustrated, but we can take a lot of heart from it," he said.

"The boys stuck at the job in hand and we managed to get the goal when everything was against us at that point.

"Then we've not settled for that, we've went on to try and get the winner.

"The effort and endeavour was there, we've just missed a few chances tonight. On another night we could have won comfortably."
