Glasgow Warriors to make their mark in Champions Cup, says Wilson
The back row insists the Warriors can make an impact in Europe after previous disappointments
Ryan Wilson feels Glasgow Warriors were perhaps under prepared for the step up in class in Europe in the past but says they're ready to make their mark in the Champions Cup this year.
The Warriors have never progressed beyond the group stages of Europe's most prestigious cup competition which starts against Leicester next Friday - despite enjoying domestic success after winning the Pro 12 in 2015.
The back row believes that they have not been able to deal with the level of opposition in previous years but, after being drawn against the Tigers, Munster and Racing 92, is confident they can qualify for the knockouts.
Asked why they haven't been able to replicate their Pro 12 form in Europe, he said: "For a lot of these teams, Europe is the biggest thing.
"We start so well in the Pro 12 and come into this and it's a step up, and maybe we've not been prepared as we would have liked to have been coming into Europe.
"It's just one of these things, the Pro 12 season is a long season so you can have slip-ups here and there and still manage to get some points back, whereas in the European Cup you've got to win your games and get as many points out of it as you can.
"We want to qualify from the group and that has been a massive goal for us over the past four or five years.
"We haven't achieved that but this year is the year I feel we can definitely go on and do that."
