Falkirk boss Peter Houston has been named as the Scottish Championship Manager of the Month for September.

The Bairns have shrugged off a disappointing start to the season to record three straight victories in the Championship to propel themselves into the promotion play-off spots..

After a win over Dumbarton at the tail end of August, Houston's men beat play-off rivals Raith Rovers, Dundee United and Ayr United as well as a thumping win over Elgin in the Challenge Cup in September.

Third-placed Bairns will be hoping to go one better than they did last season in their quest for promotion to the top flight.

They exceeded expectations by reaching the play-off final at the expense of Hibernian before losing to Kilmarnock in the final.

Hibernian's Neil Lennon claimed the award last month.
