Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says his squad are smiling again after Tuesday's Champions League demolishing at the hands of Barcelona.

The Parkhead side lost 7-0 in the opening Group C match at Camp Nou but have put the defeat behind them ahead of this weekend's trip to Inverness.

Rodgers admits he sparked an "intervention" in light of the result to make sure there was no lingering feeling - a role he says is all part of his job as Celtic manager.

He says he wanted to stabilise emotions and ensure there was a balanced mentality within the dressing room, especially after going from the high of beating Rangers in the league to the low of losing to Barcelona three days later.

"My attitude has always been to not get too carried away when you win and never too disappointed when you lose," he said. "It keeps you balanced.

"My job, more importantly, is to ensure that the players don't have any lingering feeling. That's why it's important as manager that you have an intervention. You go in, support the players in order for them to move on.

"That's something that we've done and the boys are back smiling again, back working again and looking forward to the next challenge."

Rodgers said the core of his team would remain the same for the game against Caley Thistle on Sunday, but will rotate some players to retain intensity.

He also reiterated that while goalkeeper Doris de Vries holds the number one jersey for now he has been impressed with Craig Gordon's workload.

"You can only ever play one - although we could have done with two the other night - but at the moment Doris is playing," the Northern Irishman said.

"I respect Craig's work, he's a wonderful professional but like the outfield players you have to pick a team to make it work.

"Obviously that means some players miss out but they'll always be valuable."
