UEFA elect Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin as Platini replacement
The European governing body has announced the 48-year-old has beaten Dutchman Michael van Praag.
Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin has been elected as the new president of UEFA, the European governing body has announced.
Ceferin, 48, is a lawyer who was an unknown to many prior to the start of his campaign, which resulted in him beating Dutch rival Michael van Praag by 42 votes to 13.
He will replace the previous incumbent, Michel Platini, for the next two-and-a-half years, after the Frenchman was banned from all football activities in December.
