Tom Hateley revealed that he is looking forward to being part of the Den's Park dressing room, admitting that most jokes flew over his head during his time in Poland.

A member of the Motherwell squad for four years, the Monaco-born Englishman made his return to Scottish football joining Dundee on September 5, following the expiry of his contract at Polish outfit Śląsk Wrocław.

And upon signing for Paul Hartley's side, the son of former Rangers striker Mark revealed that he has been out of the loop as far as dressing room jokes are concerned.

"I had a good chat with Darren O'Dea," the 26-year-old revealed. "We've got the same sort of group of friends down south so we know each other through friends and I had a good chat with him.

"He told me exactly what to expect in training and what to expect in the changing room.

"It's nice, because I've obviously been in Poland and I haven't had a clue what's going on in the changing room for two years. I just sort of sat there and laughed."

The defensive midfielder referred to the 'close-knit' group of players at the club, adding that they, along with Paul Hartley, were key factors in the move.

"I get the impression that the lads really want to work hard and be better. I think you can always improve as a footballer and as a team and a club and that's the impression I get, so it's something I'm looking forward to doing."
