Late call-up Lee Wallace pulls out of Scotland squad through injury
The left back will not travel to Malta for the 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Lee Wallace has withdrawn from the Scotland squad to face Malta through injury and has instead travelled with Rangers ahead of a friendly against Linfield.
The Rangers captain, who was drafted into Gordon Strachan's squad on Tuesday, was excused by the Scotland medical team on Friday due to a muscle injury.
Within hours Wallace boarded a flight with his club teammates to Northern Ireland, where he will watch them take on Linfield in a testimonial match on Saturday.
STV understands the left back will receive treatment from club doctors on the trip.
Wallace, who has eight caps, has previously been overlooked by Strachan. Although he was called up for the friendly double header at the start of the summer, which he withdrew from through injury, his last Scotland appearance came in a friendly against USA in 2013.
It leaves Andy Robertson as the remaining left back in Gordon Strachan's pool of players for the trip to Ta' Qali. No additional players have been added to the squad.
