Craig Gordon has been dropped from Celtic's starting lineup for Saturday's match against Aberdeen after a series of recent mistakes.

Dorus de Vries was handed a place in the team by Brendan Rodgers for the clash with last season's Scottish Premiership runners-up, with the Dutch keeper making his first appearance for the Hoops since joining from Nottingham Forest earlier this month.

Gordon's performance against Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the Champions League play-off aggregate win on Tuesday was questioned, with both goals for the hosts coming from defensive and goalkeeping errors.

The 33-year-old had played every game under Rodgers up until Saturday's home match against Aberdeen.

Earlier this month, Gordon insisted that he could adapt to Rodgers' progressive style of play and keep his place as Celtic's number one.

"The manager will make that call,' the Scotland international told reporters. "I have to go out there, do as well as I can and play the way the manager wants the team to play.

"If I can do that and play well, I will stay in the team. Simple as that.

"I think I did alright with it [playing out from the back ]against Hapoel [first leg]. We are working on it in training. I feel as if I am becoming more and more comfortable with it."
