League One wrap: Daniel Mullen bags Livi brace, Alloa keep winning
Read a full review of Saturday afternoon's action from the third tier.
An impressive brace by Daniel Mullen inspired high-flying Livingston to a third win of the season with a 4-1 thrashing of Stenhousemuir.
Livi grabbed the lead after four minutes when Mullen slammed home from close range. It was two 19 minutes later thanks to a superb 20-yard finish into the bottom corner from Scott Pittman - his third goal of the season.
Shortly after the break, Mullen got his second in similar fashion to his first, sliding the ball past Stenhousemuir goalkeeper Colin McCabe from inside the six-yard box.
The rout was complete with 12 minutes left when full-back Jackson Longridge scored in fortuitous circumstances after a huge deflection took his left-wing cross into the net.
A late penalty proved mere consolation for the visitors, with Colin McMenamin stroking the ball home in stoppage-time.
Stranraer remain without a point in the Scottish League 1 table after a debated Andy Ryan goal condemned them to a 1-0 defeat at Airdrie.
Ryan latched onto a through ball to give the hosts a 26th-minute lead that the away side were clearly unhappy about amid suspicions of offside.
Stranraer twice hit the woodwork during the first half, but only had themselves to blame for not taking something from the game when Craig Malcolm was denied from the penalty spot on the hour.
Airdrie goalkeeper Rohan Ferguson got down to his right to keep out Malcolm's spot-kick and secure a second league win for Airdrie.
Alloa continued their blistering start to the Ladbrokes Scottish League One season as East Fife were cast aside 2-1.
Iain Flannigan and Greig Spence struck just before half-time as free-scoring Alloa, who netted nine goals in their first two league matches, continued to make an early-season statement.
Flannigan grabbed the opener after 37 minutes when his free-kick went in via a deflection and moments later the away defence failed to clear and Spence was on hand to score.
Kevin O'Hara claimed a late consolation for the visitors when he tapped home a Tony Wallace assist for his first goal of the season.
Brechin were left frustrated as their 100 per cent record in Scottish League One was ended by Queen's Park after the visitors battled to a 0-0 draw.
The hosts, third in the league at kick-off, started with intent. An early chance went begging for Andrew Jackson, but they would have been hoping it was a sign of things to come.
Creativity was not there for Brechin, but they could have won it in the 90th minute through Jackson again, but his close-range shot went agonisingly wide.
The good feeling around the club in the early season simmered somewhat, with Queen's Park keeping better possession overall, having themselves enjoyed a decent start to the new campaign.
Lowly Peterhead squandered a two-goal lead against Albion in Scottish League One, but still earned their first point of the new campaign from a 2-2 draw at Balmoor.
It was not until five minutes before half-time, but the hosts went 1-0 up thanks to a stunning free-kick from Ryan Baptiste, and he almost made it two in similar circumstances moments later.
It looked rosy for Peterhead on the hour mark, when Rory McAllister finished well into the bottom corner from inside the box, seemingly cementing their dominance.
But it did not last long, as Albion pulled a goal back just three minutes later thanks to Ross Stewart, who rifled the ball home.
And they completed the comeback when the unfortunate Scott Ross put through his own net after 74 minutes.
