St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright insists he won't let his team get carried away by their 12-match unbeaten run as they prepare to take on champions Celtic.

The reigning title holders visit McDiarmid Park on Saturday with the Perth men showing no signs of letting up their fine early season form, a sequence of results which stretches back to April.

St Johnstone have scored 14 goals in the League Cup, finishing top of their group before going on to dump Hearts out of the competition with a 3-2 win in the second round.

Saints have continued that form into the league with an opening day 0-0 draw with Aberdeen before coming from behind to beat Motherwell 2-1 ahead of their meeting with Brendan Rodgers' men.

Wright told STV:"It's been a good week for us, the point against Aberdeen was a good point and a great win against Hearts in the cup and then to go away to Motherwell, another side that's been in the top six last season and get a win is very pleasing.

"On paper, all the games were difficult games and they proved that, we're pleased to get four points and be in the next round of the cup, an excellent week for us."

Danny Swanson has been a standout for Saints with six goals so far this term and Wright has been thrilled with the midfielder's contribution.

He added: "Danny's playing right at the top of his game at the minute, he looks really fit and we're happy with how he's performed but he'll be the first to admit that the whole team's performed well.

"We passed the ball really well on Saturday and that enabled him to get loads of the ball in the right areas of the pitch, so I'm pleased with Danny but overall really pleased with the team."

Wright added: "We're always looking to the next game and the next game's the most important one, but I do think it proves how good a side we can be with the unbeaten run, especially when you look at the last five games of last year, they were all against the top six.

"We're on a good run but we're not going to get carried away, it's early days yet and we'll just take each game as it comes."
