Dundee have moved to add to their striking department with the signing of Faissal El Bakhtaoui under freedom of contract.

The 23-year-old has signed a three year deal at Dens Park after spending time on trial with English Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Spotted by former East End Park boss Jim Jefferies, the French-born forward signed for Dunfermline in 2012 despite having played little 11-a-side football.

After an initial bedding-in period he had a hugely successful 2015/16 season, scoring 30 goals in all competitions as Allan Johnston led the Pars to the League One title.

El Bakhtaoui earned the division's player of the year award but decided not to renew his contract with the Fifers in a quest further his career.

The signing comes days after Dundee lost their top scorer from last season, Kane Hemmings, on a transfer to Oxford United and in a week where star striker Greg Stewart has been subject of repeated bids from English clubs.
