Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter is relishing a reunion with former boss Brendan Rodgers as he bids to repay the faith showed in him by new manager Mark Warburton.

The new signing linked up with his teammates in training for the first time this week, having previously been on international duty captaining England to the semi finals of the UEFA U-19 championship.

Rossiter was guided into the first team at Liverpool during Rodgers' time at the club, and is excited to square up against his former boss as they both enjoy debut seasons in the Scottish top flight.

"I owe a lot to Brendan," Rossiter said. "He brought me into the team and gave me a chance [at Liverpool]."

"But obviously I owe a lot to the gaffer here, Mark Warburton, because he showed faith in me to bring me up here and I'm really looking forward to playing under him."

Expanding on the calibre of his former boss, Rossiter said: "He has managed in the Premier League, he's obviously a good coach and he's got his way of playing."

"But we have got our own way of playing as well, so it's going to be a good battle; it will be interesting."

"I do owe a lot to Brendan. I was only young at the time at Liverpool and was still coming up and learning my way, and so I'm looking forward to [a reunion]."

While Rossiter showed he was grateful for Rodgers' guidance at Liverpool, he stressed that new boss Mark Warburton was a key factor in joining the Ibrox side, and that he is excited for the season ahead with his new club.

On his decision to swap Merseyside for Govan, the 19-year-old said "I had breakfast with the gaffer, Davie [Weir] and Frank [McParland] and I think my mind was made up within five to ten minutes. As soon as I walked in here, seeing Ibrox, there was only one place I was going to end up come pre-season.
