Kolo Toure added to Celtic's Champions League squad for Astana tie
The Ivorian has been registered and is free to play in the second leg at Celtic Park.
Celtic have added Kolo Toure to their Champions League squad list for the tie against Astana, freeing him to play in the second leg of the tie if required.
The Scottish champions were able to add one player to their squad before the deadline on at midnight on Tuesday. The club had left a space free for a new player and though Toure was announced as having signed a one-year deal on Sunday, there was speculation another new arrival could take the final squad place.
UEFA have now confirmed the squads for the third qualifying round matches and the Ivorian defender has been included in Celtic's group of players.
Though he remained in Glasgow as the squad travelled to Kazakhstan for the first leg, which kicks off at 3pm on Wednesday, he can play in the return match in Glasgow on August 3.
The 35-year-old, who left Liverpool at the end of last season, has not taken part in pre-season training. He said he didn't know when he would be match-ready but has said he is in good shape.
"I'm fit," he said on Monday. "Of course I just joined the team and I need time to be ready.
"I will work hard. I can't tell you when [I'll be ready] but I will give everything I've got to be able to help my teammates.
"I've just joined and there are guys who have been training for two months."
Celtic are currently suffering a defensive headache with Erik Sviatchenko missing the first leg against Astana with a groin injury. Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata are already ruled out with injury meaning 20-year-old defender Eoghan O'Connell is in line to make his European debut in Astana.
