Ibrox atmosphere can rival Euro 2016 says Rangers' Lee Hodson
New recruit says he expects crowd to emulate 'unbelievable' Northern Irish support in France.
New Rangers signing Lee Hodson believes that the atmosphere at Ibrox can rival the euphoria of the Euro 2016 championships.
The 24-year-old featured for Mark Warburton's side for the first time on Tuesday night, playing in the 2-0 League Cup win over Annan Athletic.
The former Kilmarnock loanee joined the Gers at the end of June from MK Dons, having being part of Northern Ireland's squad this summer. While the full-back did not make an appearance at the championships, his time with the squad in France made a lasting impression.
"The Euros was fantastic," Hodson said.
"Obviously it's disappointing not to get the minutes but just to be there and experience the whole tournament and be involved in such a massive tournament. for me, it was a massive learning curve.
"The crowd, and the atmosphere from Northern Ireland fans was unbelievable. And, from what the lads have said so far, it's going to be exactly the same at Ibrox.
"Last night I experienced 32,000, it was unbelievable. I can't imagine what it's going to be like on the first day of the season. It's something I'm looking forward to."
Rangers will open their Premiership campaign at home to Hamilton and Hodson will hope to draw upon his Euro experience to cope with the demands in Govan.
"For me, it was a massive learning curve," Hodson added.
"Watching the other teams when we are playing against them, but not even that, sitting back at your hotel watching the other games on TV you can always look at world class full-backs and try to look at what they do and look at your game and see what you need to improve on."
