Niko Kranjcar completes move to Rangers after passing medical
Croatian midfielder has signed a two-year deal with the Ibrox club.
Niko Kranjcar has completed his move to Rangers, signing a two-year deal with the Ibrox side.
The midfielder joins Mark Warburton's side as they prepare for life in the Scottish Premiership.
Kranjcar, 31, arrived in Glasgow on Wednesday to complete a medical following talks in New York with the Rangers boss in May.
Former Croatia international Kranjcar had been playing for New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League and says ex-Rangers forward Nikica Jelavic helped sell him on the move.
Krancjar also underlined the importance of Warburton flying to New York to discuss the move. "It was probably the most important thing," he said.
"We had a great, great talk. I found out how much I really wanted this deal to happen. We had a good discussion about the goals of this football club and it was easier to make a decision from then on."
"Of course," he said when asked whether he aimed to win the title with Rangers. "That was my first question [when I met Warburton].
"I hope the goal is to win the league. I believe a club the size of Rangers, whatever the situation, has to want to fight to win the league."
The 31-year-old - who prefers to play as a number 10 - says he "can't wait" to play his first Old Firm game, calling it a fixture that "pumps you up."
Kranjcar will join up with former teammates Joey Barton and Clint Hill at Rangers, who have also joined the club this summer.
The Croatian didn't speak to either player before making the move, but talked highly of their quality.
"[Barton] is probably the most underrated player I've played with because his ability is really up there with the best," he said.
Warburton told the club's website: "We are delighted to secure a player of Niko's undoubted qualities and very much look forward to welcoming him to the club.
"Such a signing shows our desire to achieve a positive balance between young, hungry players and the undoubted necessity of experience and maturity.
"In addition, I would like to thank the Cosmos for the highly professional manner in which they have conducted their business throughout this process. It has been a pleasure to deal with them."
The player spent two seasons at Queen's Park Rangers between 2013-15 where he played with fellow new boys at Ibrox, Barton and Hill.
Matt Crooks and Josh Windass signed pre-contract deals with Rangers while the Govan outfit have also recruited Jordan Rossiter from Liverpool.
Scotland international goalkeeper Matt Gilks held talks at the club's training ground on Wednesday with talks continuing over a deal.
