Andy Murray beats Raonic to claim record fifth Queen’s Club title
Scottish star claimed a dramatic win over the Canadian in London.
Andy Murray claimed a record fifth title at Queen's Club after defeating Milos Raonic in three sets.
The Scot produced a stunning comeback to find a way past the big serving Canadian to record a 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-3 triumph in London.
A tight first set was decided by a tie break with 25-year-old Raonic edging out the home favourite with some well constructed points.
The momentum was with Raonic and after breaking Murray early in the second set, he looked to be on course for victory after taking a 3-0 lead. But the Dunblane ace hit back to break Raonic for the first time in the tournament on the way to claiming the second set 6-4.
An early break in the third set saw Murray tighten his grip on the match and he closed it out to lift the trophy once more.
Victory takes Murray past previous four-time winners Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Lleyton Hewitt, Roy Emerson and Andy Roddick. The win is the 29-year-old's first since Ivan Lendl returned to his coaching team and provides the perfect preparation for Wimbledon.
The world number two had previously won the competition in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015.
