Stephen Gallacher ruled out of Royal Troon Open with wrist injury
The 41-year-old will also miss next month's Scottish Open due to the injury suffered.
Stephen Gallacher will miss The Open at Royal Troon next month due to a wrist injury.
The 41-year-old has missed a number of tournaments this year through injury and has suffered a recurrence of the injury ahead of the tournament in Ayrshire next month.
Gallacher hasn't played since earlier this month and has dropped down the world rankings, meaning his qualification for The Open was far from assured.
However, the Scot could still have qualified through the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart, or the French Open in Paris, but he will now miss those tournaments as well through his wrist injury.
Gallacher's best finish at The Open was in 2014 when he finished tied for 15th place, also making the cut at The Masters and the US Open that year.
He is expected to be ruled out of action for approximately a month.
