Harry Redknapp: Rangers shouldn’t worry about Clint Hill’s age
Redknapp says his former QPR captain would be a valuable addition to Mark Warburton's squad.
Clint Hill would be a good signing for Rangers despite his advancing years, according to former QPR manager Harry Redknapp.
Rangers are in talks to sign the 37-year-old defender, who Mark Warburton has identified as the man to shore up his defence.
Redknapp has spoken in effusive terms about what Hill could bring to the Ibrox side and insisted there would be no questions marks over his age.
"He's in absolutely great shape," he told STV. "He trains well, looks after himself and he's a family man. I couldn't speak highly enough of him.
"[Rangers would be] getting a good player, a character, a leader who wants to win. He's fit as a fiddle and doesn't carry an ounce of excess weight on him. He's a good lad, a tough lad with a good left foot who loves a tackle.
"He's a very good player who would be an excellent signing on a free transfer."
Hill was a key player in QPR's promotion to the Premiership under Redknapp in 2014 and the former manager suggested an old team-mate may have been instrumental in the bid to sign him.
"He and Joey Barton were very important players," he added. "I would think Joey's put in a good word for him and told the manager what a good lad he is and how he'd be a good signing."
