Rangers have confirmed that midfielder Dean Shiels has left the club after the expiration of his contract.

His departure comes as Mark Warburton continues the revamp of his squad this summer, with the Ibrox side preparing for next season in the Scottish Premiership.

The Northern Irishman joined Rangers in 2012, but has not been offered a new deal with the club beyond this summer.

"Everyone at Rangers wishes Dean every success in his future career, and thanks him for their efforts during his time at the club," a club statement read.

Shiels is the seventh player to leave Rangers this summer, with Nicky Law, Nicky Clark and David Templeton all released. Dominic Ball, Gedion Zelalem and Billy King have all returned to their parent clubs too.

Joey Barton, Jordan Rossiter, Josh Windass and Matt Crooks have joined Rangers, however, as Warburton overhauls his team.
