Scotland slump to 4-0 defeat to Iceland in bid to reach Euro 2017
Anna Signeul's side were heavily beaten in the home qualifier in Falkirk.
Scotland were handed a harsh lesson in their bid to reach Euro 2017 as they fell to a heavy 4-0 defeat to group rivals Iceland.
Anna Signeul's team topped Group 1 heading into the match but they were completely outclassed by the visitors in Falkirk.
Iceland took the lead after nine minutes when Ifeoma Dieke failed to get her head to Hallbera Gisladottir's free-kick and it ended up in the back of the net.
The home side looked shaky in defence throughout, especially from crossed balls into the penalty area and it was little surprise when Harpa Thorsteinsdottir beat Dieke in the air to head home.
Katrin Jonsdottir added a third before captain Margret Vidarsdottir headed in a fourth after 70 minutes.
Scotland's misery was complete when Kim Little hit the post with a last minute penalty after a handball in the box.
The national team now face Belarus in Minsk on Tuesday before taking on Iceland again on September 20.
