Gordon Strachan and his Scotland team have left for Malta ahead of their friendly international against Italy on Sunday.

The squad departed Glasgow airport on Saturday morning with Scotland facing Antonio Conte's Italy team at the Ta' Qali national stadium at 7.45pm on Sunday.

Scotland will complete a double-header of international fixtures with another match against France in Metz next week, providing pre-Euro 2016 opposition for both Conte and Didier Deschamps' sides.

Strachan will be without Rangers left back Lee Wallace, Derby County forward Chris Martin and Aston Villa full back Alan Hutton for the match following their withdrawals.

"I hope the motivation is that they want to play against these good teams again regularly," assistant manager Mark McGhee said earlier this week.

"We have no control over what the Italians will do or what side they will pick - but they could pick any 11 from the squad they have and I think it will be a fairly robust challenge for us."
