Scottish Cup triumph finally ends Hibernian jibes says John McGinn
The Easter Road side came from behind against Rangers to claim a historic victory.
John McGinn believes Hibernian's comeback triumph in the Scottish Cup final will finally end jibes about the team's bottle.
David Gray scored a stoppage time winner to clinch a 3-2 win over Rangers for the Edinburgh side, claiming the Scottish Cup for the first time in 114 years.
Hibernian have found themselves the target of much criticism all season, with many questioning their mentality and mindset.
McGinn believes such criticisms are no longer applicable, with Hibernian demonstrating their mental strength in the comeback on Saturday.
"What happened last week against Falkirk in the play-offs made us hungry to go succeed today," the midfielder said. "I had a feeling all week that our luck was about to change.
"It's been a disappointing couple of months for us but this is something we can use to spur us on next year.
"I've been walking about Edinburgh these past few weeks and everybody coming up to me has been saying, 'Please go get that cup'.
"Now we've managed to do it so we'll be heroes.
"We've had our bottle and character questioned. Maybe the criticism was right because we have collapsed a couple of times.
"But we have proved over the season we are a determined bunch and today was a fitting way to put those jibes to bed."
