Jack Aitchison believes he will have to prove himself at Celtic all over again next season with the club appointing a new manager this summer.

The 16-year-old became the youngest ever Celtic debutant and goalscorer in history on Sunday, scoring with his first touch in the Hoops' final day 7-0 win over Motherwell.

However, with Ronny Deila leaving Parkhead after Sunday's game Aitchison will have to make an impression on the new man after the summer.

"I think I'll need to start from scratch again to impress the new manager," he said.

"But that's down to me to keep working hard to get into the team. I need to keep my feet on the ground and work hard."

Aitchison was given his chance due to Leigh Griffiths' suspension against Motherwell, coming on as a second half substitute. Now the teenager has his sights set high.

"Hopefully I can go where Leigh Griffiths is one day," he said. "I just need to keep practising and practising and I need to earn the respect of the club and of the fans."

The 16-year-old - who only turned professional in February - will be following a path trodden by Kieran Tierney, who broke into the Celtic starting lineup this season.

"It's amazing to see what Kieran is doing, starting every game," he said."Hopefully I can be one of them who comes in and starts all the time. But as I say, I need to work my way back up."
