Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers holds talks with Celtic
Northern Irishman has had discussions with the Scottish champions' hierarchy.
Celtic have held talks with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers as they seek to fill their vacant manager's position by next week.
The Scottish champions are on the hunt for a new boss to replace Ronny Deila after the Norwegian led the club to three trophies in two seasons.
Rodgers has been out of work since leaving Anfield earlier this season, where he was on a lucrative contract which was due to run until 2018. Celtic may have to break the bank to land the Northern Irishman but STV understands the club intend to speak to other candidates.
Rodgers started his coaching career at Chelsea's academy during Jose Mourinho's first spell at Stamford Bridge before moving on to become manager of then Championship side Watford.
A brief spell at Reading followed in 2009 before he joined Swansea in the summer of 2010 as he led the Welsh side to the Premier League following a 4-2 win over his old side at Wembley.
Rodgers replaced Kenny Dalglish as Liverpool boss in 2012 and he guided the club to the brink of the Premier League title in 2013/14 only to lose out to Manchester City on the final day of the campaign.
Rewarded with a fresh four-year deal that summer, Rodgers struggled without Luis Suarez with supporters critical of how the Reds had spent the £75m transfer cash received from Barcelona.
A 1-1 draw with Merseyside rivals Everton in October proved to be his last in charge with Jurgen Klopp arriving as his replacement.
