Hearts coach confirms interest in Scotland goalkeeper Matt Gilks
The 33-year-old has held talks with his contract at Burnley set to expire this summer.
Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson has confirmed the club's interest in Scotland goalkeeper Matt Gilks.
The 33-year-old is out of contract with Burnley this summer and has visited the Edinburgh club's training ground.
While the capital club released an official statement claiming they wouldn't comment on names linked with the club, boss Neilson told PA Sport that he had spoken to the international shot stopper.
He said: "He is one that we have looked at, as we have looked at several players. It is that time of year.
"Obviously you can't sign anybody until June 9 so we are just looking.
"He just came up to have a look and a chat as we have done with a few players. We will see how things progress over the next few weeks with several of our targets.
"We are always trying to move the squad forward and make sure that the people who come in are better than the ones that go. But it is very early stages.
"We don't need that many - four, maybe, not as many as last summer because the boys have proven they can play at this level so it is just adding a bit more quality."
Current number one Neil Alexander said he's close to agreeing a fresh contract at Tynecastle.
