Hartley shares sympathy for Mixu Paatelainen following sacking
Dundee boss Paul Hartley feels for the former United head coach following decisive derby.
Dens Park boss Paul Hartley has sympathy for Mixu Paatelainen following his exit from Dundee United after their relegation was confirmed in Monday's Dundee derby.
The former Hearts and Celtic midfielder acknowledged the difficulties facing managers following Paatelainen's sacking, drawing attention to the pressure to succeed.
Asked about the Finn's dismissal, Hartley said: "I've got sympathy for every manager that loses their job.
"It's a job that comes with so much pressure and it's all about winning. That's pretty simple. If you don't win games you might lose your job; if you win games you've got a good chance of staying in [the] job."
The Dundee boss was quick to recognise the demands of top-flight management, adding that even winning doesn't necessarily guarantee job security.
"Look at contracts now. If you have a two or three-year contract I don't think that means a lot now."
On Thursday, Dundee announced season tickets prices for the 2016/17 season with confirmation the club remain in talks with the SPFL about the potential of a league match against Celtic being played in the United States.
