Gregor Townsend calm over Glasgow Warriors summer squad changes
The head coach says he has almost completed his recruitment ahead of next season.
Gregor Townsend says he is content with the changes he has had to make to his Glasgow Warriors squad ahead of next season and has almost completed his recruitment process.
The head coach will see star players including Leone Nakarawa, Taqele Naiyaravoro and Jerry Yanuyanutawa leave the club in the summer.
Townsend admits he was always prepared to lose players because he has had an unusually large squad this year as a result of the World Cup.
While he expects to confirm more movement in the coming weeks, with possible new signings or existing players putting pen to paper on extended deals, he says he has almost finalised his squad for next season.
Townsend has already added Corey Flynn and Leonardo Sarto to the side and hopes their experience will compliment the youth he will also be blooding through.
"There was always going to be players leaving," he said. "And like any season there's players moving on because of their decisions and because of their coach's decisions.
"There's players that are replacing them through the academy and I'm delighted with the squad we're putting together next year but it will be two or three players less than this year.
"We've already reinvested in the squad to a large extent, whether that's players resigning or bringing in a couple that we've already announced.
"We're almost complete with our recruitment for next year and any money we got was reinvested in the squad.
"I don't think there will be many more players coming in. We still have two or three announcements to go and whether that's players resigning or players coming from elsewhere, we're in that final stage of working out when and who we can announce."
