Neil Lennon doesn't believe Celtic's squad requires major surgery this summer after announcing he'd be interested in a return to manage the Scottish champions.

The Northern Irishman, who won three top flight titles and two Scottish Cups during his time as boss between 2010 and 2014, told STV on Wednesday that he'd be "definitely interested" in the Celtic Park post after Ronny Deila announced he'll step down at the end of the campaign.

Speaking on Peter and Roughie's Football Show on STV Glasgow, Lennon believes Celtic need to invest in two key areas in the close season but insists a squad overhaul isn't required.

Asked what he would do if he were to become manager again, Lennon replied: "I don't think it [the squad] needs major surgery. It's going to be difficult anyway. People say 'this player should go and that should happen'. It doesn't work that way

"I think they need a couple of additions, there's no question.

"They need support for Leigh Griffiths in terms of someone else to weigh in with some goals and I think the need an injection of pace in the team as well. It was apparent on Sunday that there wasn't enough pace in the team either.

"I don't think it needs major surgery for sure."

You can watch Neil Lennon's interview in full on The Peter and Roughie Football Show tonight at 7pm on STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh.
