Andy Halliday backs Mark Warburton to win Manager of the Year award
The Rangers midfielder says his boss should be one of the four contenders next month.
Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday is backing Mark Warburton to be crowned Manager of the Year at the Scottish PFA awards next month.
The Ibrox boss has guided his side to Championship title glory this season and is on course to complete a treble.
The Light Blues won the Petrofac Cup against Peterhead earlier this month and booked their place in the Scottish Cup final with a dramatic derby win over Celtic on penalties at the weekend.
The nominees for the award, which was won by Inverness Caley Thistle's John Hughes last season, will be announced later this month.
Despite not being able to vote for his own boss, Halliday is backing him to be recognised by players at other clubs.
"He's got to be a contender that's for sure," Halliday said. "When you look at the Championship, the gaffer and obviously [Alan] Stubbs and Peter Houston have had great seasons and great influences on their team.
"It's hard for me to pick one but seeing first hand what he's done here he would have got my vote anyway.
"He's certainly a calming influence but he puts so much belief into the players and gives you that extra five or 10%. It's all credit to him and the staff in the background for the progression over the last 12 months.
"He's a bit of everything in terms of his demeanour in the dressing room. He's calming but strict in the right areas. He has brought discipline to the club but we are all fighting for him out there."
Next up for Rangers is a trip to Easter Road to take on Scottish Cup final rivals Hibernian in the league.
Despite triumphing over them in the title race the midfielder believes the Edinburgh club deserve to be praised for their campaign so far.
"They've had a fantastic season themselves, they got to the League Cup final and now they're in the Scottish Cup final and they're still challenging for promotion," he continued.
"I think Hibs are a team that haven't had enough credit for how well they've done this season."
