Ronny Deila will not be sacked in the wake of the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Rangers and will remain in charge until at least the end of the season, STV understands.

The Norwegian's position has come under increased scrutiny following the club's penalty shoot-out loss to Mark Warburton's men at Hampden.

Speaking at the national stadium, Deila said it was not the time to talk about his future and called for his team to focus on the end of their league campaign.

Celtic's majority shareholder Dermot Desmond made the trip to Glasgow to watch the game from the stands alongside chief executive Peter Lawwell and chairman Ian Bankier. Like his predecessor Neil Lennon, Deila has a rolling 12-month contract with the Scottish champions.

Celtic hold an eight-point advantage over Aberdeen with just five games of the season remaining and Deila will lead the Scottish champions as they aim to secure their fifth successive league title.

The 40-year-old claimed the domestic double in his first season, lifting the League Cup before claiming the Premiership title.

Criticism has been aimed at the manager following poor results in Europe as well as over the team's style of play.
