Erik Sviatchenko says his manager Ronny Deila still has the backing of the Celtic squad despite losing to Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The defender levelled the game at 1-1 but goals from Barrie McKay and Tom Rogic took the game to extra time and then penalties.

Celtic lost 5-4 on spot kicks to crash out of the competition but despite Deila coming under pressure from supporters this season for not pulling off results in big games, the Danish defender put his faith in the Parkhead boss.

"I'm 100% behind the manager," he said at full time. "It's a massive club and this is our game, it's the players' game. We need to win the games and we are all behind the manager."

Sviatchenko is also confident Patrick Roberts and Tom Rogic will recover from their misses at the national stadium.

On-loan Roberts put a shot wide despite facing an open goal before the Australian midfielder skied his penalty in sudden death which ultimately sent Rangers through.

"We will be behind everyone who needs it but they are all strong characters and they will bounce back," he continued.

"Even though at this stage it is quite tough but we are all behind each other. From this stage we have to move on and show character and attitude."
