Mathias Pogba's goal tally is causing concern admits Jags boss
The Partick Thistle striker has scored two goals in 25 appearances this season.
Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald admits there is concern over Mathias Pogba's strike rate this season and wants to see him play more selfishly on the pitch.
The Frenchman triggered a contract extension with his first-half substitute appearance on Tuesday, which will see him remain at Firhill until summer 2017.
Despite 25 appearances this season, however, Pogba only has two goals to his name and lost his starting position to Kris Doolan in the midweek win over Dundee United.
The Jags manager says fans are still to see the best of the attacker but if he is to improve his accuracy he has to stop putting his team-mates first.
"I think there is a concern with Pogs, we're at him all the time," Archibald told STV.
"I think he does a lot of unselfish work outside the box and in the wider areas but we're at him all the time to lay it off and get into the box. Don't worry about others and just try and be more selfish. He needs service as well, we know that.
"He's probably just getting up to fitness now, getting to levels we expect from him. With him getting a new deal hopefully we'll have him in pre-season with no injuries and we'll see the best of him."
Pogba isn't the only Thistle player to secure a new deal this week, left-back Callum Booth also put pen to paper on a contract until 2018.
A booking in the league win over United will see the 24-year old miss his first game of the season, but his suspension won't kick in before this weekend's trip to Dingwall.
Thistle will take on Ross County as they fight for a place in the top six and Booth admits securing a spot in the top half would be especially impressive considering their poor run of form at the start of the campaign.
"There's been steady progression over the two seasons Partick have been in the Premiership," he said. "We've finished tenth and eighth, so if we can progress that's brilliant, especially with the start we made.
"The first two months we couldn't get a win at all but from there the turnaround has been remarkable."
