Gregor Townsend hailed his attacking stars after a six try defeat of Treviso sent Glasgow Warriors into a Pro 12 play-off spot.

Warriors produced a powerful second half display to get away from their Italian hosts, and Simone Favaro, Stuart Hogg, Grayson Hart and James Malcolm crossed the whitewash to add to first half scores from Jonny Gray and Peter Horne to secure a 38-16 bonus point win.

Speaking to the official Glasgow Warriors website after watching his men leapfrog Edinburgh, Munster and Ulster to go fourth, head coach Townsend said: "There was a lot of effort that went into that second-half performance.

"The way we started that 40 minutes showed what the players are capable of as there was quick support to the ball carrier.

"We had to be strong to clear the defensive threats as well which we did.

"To score six tries was pleasing and that will happen when there are open conditions and you play multi-phase rugby with spaces starting to open up.

"Players like Stuart Hogg found miss-matches in defence and he scored a cracking try. Grayson Hart also showed great initiative with his score."

Glasgow remain in Italy as they prepare to take on Zebre in Parma on Friday night.

The match is the Warriors' game in hand on the rest of the league and victory would see them overhaul Scarlets to move into third place in the table.
