Cummings scores twice as Scotland U21s beat Northern Ireland 3-1
Hibernian striker brushed off a first-half penalty miss to fire the Scots to victory.
Jason Cummings scored twice as Scotland Under-21s fought back to claim a 3-1 victory over Northern Ireland in Paisley.
The Hibernian forward brushed off a first-half penalty miss to net twice after the break as Ricky Sbragia’s men bounced back from defeat to France.
Northern Ireland opened the scoring when Shay McCartan’s free-kick eluded Hearts goalkeeper Jack Hamilton and flew into the net.
Scotland were handed the chance to equalise from the penalty spot when Cummings saw his cross blocked by Liam Donnelly’s arm. The Easter Road striker stepped up but saw his effort saved by Kilmarnock’s Conor Brennan.
Oliver McBurnie’s introduction helped spark the hosts into life and they drew level when the Swansea forward squeezed the ball past Brennan before Cummings put Scotland ahead with a tight finish at the back post.
The 20-year-old grabbed his second of the game, tapping home from Stephen Kingley’s cross from the left.
