Celtic are set to play friendly matches against Leicester City and Barcelona this summer between Champions League qualifiers.

The Glasgow club will be competing in the high-profile friendly International Champions Cup alongside potential qualifiers to reach the Champions League group stage.

Should Ronny Deila's side win this season's Scottish Premiership title they will play the second round of Champions League qualification in July, with the first leg scheduled for the 12th and 13th of the month, and the second leg on the 19th and 20th.

Celtic will play an International Champions Cup friendly match against Premier League leaders Leicester on July 23 at Celtic Park - which could come in the midst of the club's Champions League qualification campaign.

Celtic are also scheduled to face Barcelona in Dublin on July 30, between the two legs of the third round of Champions League qualification.

They would also face Inter Milan in Europe on a date to be confirmed.

AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also slated to play in the pre-season competition.

The competition, which has been contested since 2013, was played in Australia, China and the United States with Real Madrid and PSG lifting the titles.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “We are delighted to be invited to take part in such a unique and prestigious international tournament and join together with the other great names in world football in what we know will be a fantastic sporting occasion.

Celtic is proud to enjoy its own global profile and we are sure our involvement with the biggest names in the game will only increase interest in the Club on a global stage.

It is magnificent news that our supporters in Scotland and Ireland will be able to enjoy such exciting matches and we are sure our participation will be warmly welcomed by our fans who will look forward to Celtic meeting such a high calibre of opposition in Barcelona, Inter Milan and Leicester City.”

Deila said last week that he has already started planning for pre-season with chief executive Peter Lawwell.

Celtic have faced Stjarnan, KR Reyjavik and Cliftonville in the second round of Champions League qualification in the last three seasons.
