Scotland will be without David Denton and Jonny Gray for the final match of the 2016 Six Nations against Ireland.

The forward pair were assessed by Scotland's medical team with neither player fit to return for Saturday's game in Dublin.

A scan showed Gray suffered a partial tear to a pectoral muscle during Sunday's victory over France at Murrayfield.

Meanwhile Denton, who was hurt ahead of the win over Italy in Rome, has returned to his club side Bath for further treatment on his groin problem.

Finn Russell remains under observation after suffering concussion in Edinburgh but the stand-off is yet to be officially ruled out of the Dublin game.
