League One wrap: El Bakhtaoui at the double, Peterhead extend run
A review of all five matches from Saturday's Scottish League One action.
Faissal El Bakhtaoui netted a second-half double as Scottish League One leaders Dunfermline claimed a 2-0 win at Ayr.
Pars goalkeeper Sean Murdoch denied Jamie Adams in a first half of few chances before two quickfire goals put the visitors in control.
El Bakhtaoui broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute, racing on to a Ryan Wallace ball to notch his 25th goal of the season.
He doubled his tally six minutes later with a stunning 30-yard volley from Michael Paton's cross.
Craig Moore fired a late chance over for Ayr, who dropped points at home for only the fifth time this season.
In-form Shane Sutherland bagged a brace as Peterhead extended their unbeaten Scottish League One run to 17 games with a 4-1 win at Stenhousemuir.
Peterhead took the lead in the 13th minute when Jamie Stevenson - who was forced off injured 15 minutes later - fired left-footed into the bottom corner.
Sutherland then claimed his 10th goal in 12 games two minutes before half-time after being set up by Ryan Strachan.
He added a second in the 54th minute from the penalty spot after keeper Colin McCabe had fouled Leighton McIntosh, who fired in a fourth in the 67th minute.
Substitute Lewis Small hit the crossbar for Stenny, who pulled a goal back with nine minutes remaining through Carlos Martinez as they fell to a third successive defeat.
Stranraer recorded a 1-0 victory over Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill to add further momentum to their play-off push in Scottish League One
The Blues scored the only goal of the game when Mark McGuigan sprinted clear of the home defence, and slid the ball to fellow striker Jamie Longworth who completed the simple task of tapping the ball into the net after 38 minutes.
The encounter took an ugly turn when Rovers forward Gary Fisher - who had only just returned from suspension - was sent off for using foul and abusive language with 20 minutes remaining.
In the 85th minute, Stranraer survived late pressure when Rovers striker Alistair Love's header crashed off the bar, but the visitors now move level on points with their opponents Albion, as well as Airdrie who occupy fourth place.
Brechin continued their bid to avoid relegation from Scottish League One with a 2-0 away win against Airdrieonians at the Excelsior Stadium in Scottish League One.
Airdrie did all the early running but strikers David Cox and Jim Lister could not direct their efforts inside the area on target inside the opening quarter of an hour.
City took the lead a couple of minutes before the break as Andrew Jackson - on his return from injury - slotted the ball across goalkeeper Neil Parry into the bottom corner from the right side of the box.
The away side doubled their lead in stunning fashion when midfielder Lewis Spence took aim from 30 yards to scoop the ball over Parry after 66 minutes, as the visitors grabbed a fourth successive league win to put them within two points of safety.
Cowdenbeath remain above relegation rivals Forfar after securing a 1-1 draw at Station Park.
Both goals came inside the opening four minutes but the lively start petered out and the points were shared.
Andy Ryan fired Forfar in front in the third minute with a left-foot shot into the roof of the net for his first goal since the teams met last month.
The lead proved short-lived, though, as Cowdenbeath went straight up the other end and Greig Spence ended his six-match goal drought with his 16th goal of the season.
Forfar looked the most threatening in the second half but Ryan struck a post and Gavin Swankie was twice denied by Cowdenbeath goalkeeper Grant Adam.
