Stubbs: Did we 'Hibs it' against Aberdeen and St Johnstone?
The Hibernian head coach rejected the suggestion his side "bottled it" at big games.
Alan Stubbs has rejected the suggestion that his side lack the bottle for important matches, despite his side losing their last two matches.
Hibs have fallen to successive defeats against Morton and Dumbarton to effectively end their chances of catching Rangers at the top of the Championship table, prompting some critics to say they have "Hibsed it" meaning that they lacked mental strength.
The head coach pointed to success in cup competition against Premiership sides Aberdeen and St Johnstone as proof that his side had character.
"I just take [negative comments] with a pinch of salt," Stubbs told STV.
"We 'Hibsed it' against the second-best team in the country. We 'Hibsed it' against the fourth-best team in the country.
"It's easy for [critics] but I have absolute faith in my players. People just sometimes have flippant comments without thinking about it."
Instead of a mental block, Stubbs said the poor results had been as a result of mistakes by his players but that he was still happy with their overall form.
"In the last couple of games we've just made a couple of individual and team mistakes," he said.
"We've been punished for them and there's no point in us saying anything different.
"I would be more worried if teams were cutting through us and we were being outplayed but we've just made it more difficult than it should have been in the last two games.
"We've had a chat about it and we need to eradicate that and get back to doing what we've been doing well.
"I must say, it's the first time we've lost back to back games all year, so we have to put everything into perspective."
