Kilmarnock signing Julien Faubert has vowed to repay Lee Clark after becoming his first signing at Rugby Park, insisting he would break his neck for his new boss.

The former Real Madrid and France midfielder has signed a deal with the Ayrshire side until the end of the season following a training stint at St Johnstone.

Speaking to STV, the 32-year-old says he's ready to prove his worth and help the club away from the Premiership play-off spot.

Faubert said: "Yes it is special for me [to be Clark's first recruit], he’s taken a risk on me and when you feel like that as a player then you can break your neck for him on the pitch. You will fight for him because he has taken a risk on you.

"I will play for the manager, team and chairman because they have given me a contract and I appreciate that because it hasn’t been easy since last summer and I want to give them something back.

"I want to play football, I'm hungry to play competitive football and that’s why I came here. It’s a good opportunity for me to come back to British football.

"I'm sure I can do my best for the team and enjoy my football.

"It’s a new league for me. I've experienced the Spanish, English, French and Turkish leagues and I’m happy to be here.

"Some changes can help the team, a new manager and players can give the team a new feeling."

The club has received international clearance to allow Faubert a potential debut against Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday. He could be joined by Ben Gordon with the left back poised to sign on for a third spell at Killie.

And Clark, who is also looking at former Reading defender Andre Bikey and ex-Blackburn man Eddie Nolan, is delighted to get the player on board, adding: "We’re delighted.

"We got a phone call towards the end of last weekend to say would we be interested in having a look at Julien and obviously his pedigree is fantastic.

"There was a lift when the boys saw him on Monday, you could feel that buzz in the dressing room. Players will be able to learn from him as well."
