Clyde banned from playing January signings over late tax payment
Points deduction may apply after Bully Wee missed November payment to HMRC.
Clyde have been hit with a ban on fielding their three January signings over a late payment to HM Revenue and Customs.
The League Two outfit could face a points deduction after failing to hand over £3,320.20 to the tax man in November, breaching SPFL rule E29.
Barry Ferguson's team recruited Jamie Watson, John Gemmell and Scott McMann during the winter transfer window and the trio will be ineligible for upcoming matches until the matter is resolved by the SPFL board.
A statement read: "The club has inadvertently breached rule E29 of the SPFL by missing a November HMRC payment of £3,320.20.
"In the event of a breach of rule E29, clubs are precluded from fielding players registered after the breach unless subsequently approved by the board of the SPFL.
"The club is in communication with the SPFL whose Board will consider this matter at its meeting in the coming week.
"The club is fully up to date with all HMRC liabilities."
Last year Livingston received a five point deduction for failing to pay tax on undeclared bonuses in 2010/11.
The Championship side only highlighted the mistake several years later, leading to the punishment.
