Patrick Robert says Manchester City team-mate Jason Denayer helped sell him on his loan move to Celtic.

The 18-year-old joined City for £12m from Fulham but will continue his development in Scotland with Ronny Deila's men.

Denayer enjoyed a successful loan deal with the Scottish champions last season and Roberts says the Belgian's positive words helped convince him to move to Glasgow.

"Man City know that I need to be playing football and they were happy for me to come here," he said.

Roberts revealed that City team-mate Denayer factored in his decision to join the Scottish champions - the Belgian defender enjoyed a fruitful spell at Celtic Park last term.

'I spoke to him and he said it was a very, very good club' Roberts told the press, 'so I was happy with what he said and I was really excited.'

The attacker described himself as 'direct', 'quick' and hopes he can get the Celtic fans 'off their seats'.

Confirmation of Roberts' move came just a few hours before the announcement that Pep Guardiola will take over at the Manchester club this summer.
