Scott Fox says he always believed Ross County were capable of reaching cup finals after being sold on Jim McIntyre's vision for the club.

The Staggies goalkeeper had to make several crucial saves in the 3-1 triumph over Celtic at Hampden including a penalty save from Leigh Griffiths.

Fox made the switch from Partick Thistle to Dingwall last summer and he believes setting up a final meeting with Hibernian in March shows his decision was justified.

Asked if he expected to be competing for silverware so soon, Fox said: "I knew, I said that when I was leaving.

"The gaffer sold me his ambition for the club and obviously the squad he wanted.

"I knew we had the opportunity and it’s good to make the final but let’s be honest, we’ve haven’t won anything yet and we know it will be very, very difficult.

"It’s going to be massive. The fans travelled down yesterday and so did we and it took six hours. It’s brilliant for them to come down and see us. I think we brought 3,000 so it’s a great achievement for a small club like us."

Richard Foster believes Celtic's Stefan Johansen was lucky not to see red during the League Cup semi-final clash at Hampden.

The Norwegian midfielder received a yellow card from referee Craig Thomson in the dying stages of the game following a tackle on Andrew Davies.

But Foster feels the decision could have been different, saying: "I just thought it was a needless tackle from behind.

"On a different day he could have been sent off. I think it is more of a decision to make if it is not right at the end of the game. I was pretty annoyed at it.

"It's a tackle you don't need to make, it's from behind , it's not a hard man's tackle. It's a kick out at someone who doesn't even know it is coming."

Ross County's record goalscorer Michael Gardyne reflected on his second successive semi-final win over Celtic at the national stadium and backed Craig Thomson's decision to show a red card to Efe Ambrose.

Nigerian defender Ambrose brought down Alex Shalk in the box and Gardyne feels the official was correct to dismiss the 27-year-old.

He said: "I was right behind it and I think Alex has done well to take his first touch across Ambrose and it’s a sending off. He looked like he was going to score so it’s a sending off."
