Saturday's Premiership game between Inverness and Hearts has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Discussions took place on Friday between the two clubs and Police Scotland as a result of the extreme weather conditions in the Highlands.

A final pitch inspection at 7.30am on Saturday confirmed the lunchtime kick-off would not go ahead as planned.

Caley Thistle posted on Twitter: "GAME OFF : Todays Match v @JamTarts has been postponed due to waterlogged pitch and forecast of further poor weather."

Partick Thistle's home fixture against Dundee United at Firhill was also postponed after a pitch inspection from the match officials.

However, there are no plans for a pitch inspection at the League Cup semi-final between Hibernian and St Johnstone at Tynceastle in Edinburgh.

A number of Championship, League One and League Two fixtures have fallen victim to the adverse weather conditions though.

Raith Rovers' home fixture against Queen of the South was postponed following a pitch inspection at Stark's Park, with Cowdenbeath v Forfar Athletic also called off.

And in the bottom tier, Berwick Rangers' clash against Queen's Park failed to survive the conditions.
